Marquette lost an overtime game to their rivals Notre Dame this past Saturday.  The game went to overtime once again.  This was the fourth overtime in the past five games.  They managed to win the past three overtime games, but this time Notre Dame came out ahead.  Final score 63-60.  As for Marquette, they are off to the Big East tournament in New York.  Their first opponent is St. Johns.  Tip off is March 10th, at 1pm.

Marquette has won nine of the past eleven games, with three being road games.  Senior day might have been spoiled by Notre Dame, but the Big East tournament could lead the team to the big dance.  Big East tournament tickets are available now.

Marquette Basketball at Bradley Center and On The Road

By Golden Eagles Basketball fan Phil (03/03/2010 03:24 PM)

When Marquette faced Seton Hall on February 28th, the Golden Eagles had an eight point lead at the half.  Jeff Robinson of Seton Hall had led his team with over two dozen points, but they failed to win.  Marquette took advantage of a 6-1 run at the 13 minute mark in the second half.

A few minutes later, Seton Hall tied the game at 56.  The Seton Hall crowd was noisy, but only for another minute.  The Golden Eagles scored six quick points, and shut that crowd down.  At the buzzer, the score was tied at 63.  Overtime play featured Marquette offense alone.  They scored the first five points, and then went up by seven after a pair of foul shots scored by Jimmy Butler.  Marquette almost gave up the game at the end, but kept the lead long enough to win 84-83.

The Bradley Center game vs Louisville was a different story.  Marquette trounced Louisville 69-48.  At one point, Marquette scored 18 unanswered points, with Darius Johnson-Odom scoring 22 in the game.  Al McGuire night was a great time for all.  Next up for Marquette is Notre Dame.  Game time is 1pm.  Marquette tickets are still available.

Our Marquette Golden Eagles defeated the Providence Friars on the road, and stand at 4-7 in the Big East standings.  Marquette fans watched both teams score six points before Providence pulled ahead.  The Friars kept the lead for the first half of the game.  At the break it was 40-36.

After the break, Providence added to their lead, scoring seven points to Marquette's three.  From there, Marquette took command.  The Golden Eagles took the lead 57-56, and kept pushing back whenever the Friars scored.  Providence would come close to regaining the lead two more times in the game, but came up short both times.  Lazar Hayward shot two key free throws with under one minute to play, putting the Golden Eagles up by three.  The Friars went cold, and Marquette came up winners.

Next up for our Marquette Golden Eagles is a home game vs. USF on February 13th.  Game time is set for 7:30.  Bradley Center tickets available now.

Marquette Basketball Schedule 2010

By Marquette ticket buddy Phil (02/03/2010 03:29 PM)

At this point in the season Marquette has only nine games left to play on their 2010 schedule.  Marquette won their first six games, defeating non conference and lower ranked teams in November.  December was not so good for Marquette.  They lost to NC State, Wisconsin, and West Virginia.  This carried over into January with a loss to Villanova.  Since the Villanova game Marquette has a 4-3 record, and 4-5 conference record overall.

Tonight Marquette faced Depaul at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee.  Tip off is 7pm.  They face Providence on Feb. 6, and come back to the Bradley Center on 2/13 to play South Florida.

Maurice Acker, Marquette VS Syracuse, Marquette Tickets

By Marquette tickets fan Paul (01/27/2010 02:02 PM)

After two losses in a row, Marquette defeated Syracuse on the road.  The Golden Eagles fought to a tie at the half, but pulled away with just enough strength to win by five.  Lazar Haward had 16 points, and eight rebounds.  Johnson-Odom was the team leader in points with 17.

In other news, Maurice Acker is one semester ahead in his studies.  Since he's on track to graduate early, the Marquette Golden Eagles will see Acker off as he skips his last year of eligibility.  Everyone wishes Maruice the best when he heads out into the working world.
