The DePaul Blue Demons men's basketball program is NCAA Division I team representing DePaul University in Chicago and they compete in the Big East Conference. They play their home games at the Allstate Arena located in Rosemont, Illinois, which is about 16 miles from the campus. DePaul have enjoyed most of their success throughout the teams history independently, only joining the Great Midwest Conference in 1991.The Great Midwest merged with the Metro to become Conference USA in 1995. The Blue Demons are the Big East's newest member, joining in the 2005-2006 season.  Blue Demons tickets make a great gift item for any diehard Big East fan. 

The current DePaul Basketball coach is Jerry Wainwright who came aboard in 2005. His first season with the team was inconsistent at best, featuring a win against future Big East Season Champions Syracuse with a 108-69 final score and also taking a loss from CAA members Old Dominion with a score of 87-43, the worst defeat in the team's history. In the beginning of the 2007-2008 season marked a proud time for Wainwright when he logged his 200^th career win as head coach four games into the season. He has achieved six post-season appearances in his 12-year tenure as head coach.

In the 2005-2006 season, DePaul Basketball's Blue Demons beat NCAA Tournament teams Northwestern State, Marquette, Villanova, Connecticut, and California. DePaul reached the NIT and took a loss in the bracket final to Air Force. During the 2007-2008 season, DePaul earned a 10-19 record. The 2008-2009 was another season for the team, going 0-18 in Big East play and setting a school record for the longest losing streak in team history. Fortunately the Blue Demons found some redemption by reigning victory over Cincinnati, the Big East 9^th seed team in the first round of the Big East Tournament.
