The Marcus Amphitheater is at the south end of the Summerfest grounds in Milwaukee. This covered venue can hold up to 20,000 fans. There are three sections in front of the stage, with five sections behind that. Those sections are also known as the "Red" and "Yellow" sections. The Red sections are numbered 1-3, and the Yellow sections are numbered 4-8.
Beyond that, are the bleachers. The bleacher sections at the Marcus Amphitheater are not under the roof. Beyond that is the vast lawn section. The lawn sections can be a very nice place to sit, if you just want to enjoy the weather, and listen to the band. Up at the top of the venue, one will find a pair of refreshment booths. Grab a beer or soda, as the band plays on.
The Marcus Amphitheater was built in response to the high demand for room to watch the headline acts during the Summerfest run. You must pay a separate admission to enter the Marcus Amp. Former greats who played at the Marcus include Rush, Deep Purple, Jane's Addiction, Britney Spears, Paul Simon, Ringo Star, and many more.
The Marcus Amphitheater has additional shows througout the summer season in Milwaukee. During those show dates, the access to the Summerfest grounds are closed off. Still, you are amongst 20,000 other fans, and shouldn't feel like you are all alone. It's a party at the Marcus Amphitheater when the band hits the stage.
