Seton Hall University is the largest private Roman Catholic university in the state of New Jersey, located in South Orange and home of the Seton Hall Pirates athletics. Their men's basketball team is members of the NCAA Division I Big East conference.  This creates demand for Seton Hall Basketball tickets. Seton Hall is part of the original seven charter schools that created the Big East in 1979. The conference was created with the aim to create a heavy hitting basketball conference.

Seton Hall played basketball long before the creation of the Big East Conference, with their first official season occurring in 1903-1904. In 1931, the young team adopted the Pirate mascot and the team became more popular in the public eye after gaining prominent coach John "Honey" Russell in 1936. In less than 20 years, the Pirates earned a 295-129 record, an undefeated 19-0 record in 1930 and a 41 game winning streak. The Walsh Gymnasium was opened in the early 1940s to accommodate the Pirates, setting the stage for the best Seton Hall team of all time, affectionately nick named the "Wonder Five" which was led by All-American Bob Davies. Davies great skills on the court aided in the school's first NIT bid in 1941.  Seton Hall tickets are available anytime.  Just click the link above for the best selection.

Post WWII, the Pirates changed venues and played at Madison Square Garden. During this era, the Pirates had some great players including Frank Saul and Bobby Wanzer. In 1953, Richie Regan and Walter Dukes defeated the arch rival team, St. John's University and took home their first NIT title. The 1960s and early 1970s were some hard times for the Pirates with a point shaving scandal against the team in 1961 but Seton Hall redeemed themselves in 1974 with the help of Coach Bill Raferty and the team returned to the NIT.

The Big East was born in 1979 with Seton Hall being a charter member of this conference. The Hall saw great success and the highest point of their time with the Big East in 1982 when Coach P.J. Carlesimo joined the team. Around this time the team also began playing in the Meadowlands Area. Just 6 years after Carlesimo came to the team, the Pirates had played in their first NCAA tournament appearance and then in 1989, the Pirates pulled out an expected but celebrated run and victory at the NCAA Championship game where they beat Michigan in overtime. The great success during the Carlesimo continued with three Big East Tournament Championships, a Sweet Sixteen appearance and an Elite Eight appearance in the early 1990s. In the 1993-1994 season, Carlesimo left to coach NBA team Portland Trail Blazers.

The team did not see playing time in the NCAA Tournament until 2000 when they made an appearance in the Sweet Sixteen under Coach Tommy Amaker. The team flipped through coaches during the 2000s, moving on to Louis Orr in 2001 and then onto Bobby Gonzalez in 2006, who remains their current coach. Through the 2008-2009 season, Gonzalez has led the team to a 47-46 record. The team moved their home court to the Prudential Center in 2007.  Seton Hall basketball tickets are a great gift idea for any Big East basketball fan.
