Buzz Williams took the head coach position very soon after the Golden Eagles left the tournament after losing a heartbreaker. Marquette is the seventh team Mr. Williams has worked with. This assistant to Crean moved in quickly to the head coach position. Prior to that, Williams was head coach at New Orleans, and an assistant coach at Texas A&M, Colorado State, Northwestern State, and Texas at Arlington.
