Jerel McNeal
Jerel McNeal was a top-ranked high school player in Illinois. In his freshman year at Marquette, he played so well that he was named Big East All-Rookie. Jerel is known as the man who can steal the ball at key points in the game. He racked up 64 steals in 2005. He also ranked second in rebounds for his first season. He went four straight games without missing from the free-throw line. His career high scoring was against Oakland. That same game, he had seven rebounds. He scored in double figures in four of the 35 games that year. He averaged almost eleven points per game that season. In 2006, he again was named to the Big-East All Conference Second Team. He sat out a game with a head injury and went on to lead the team in scoring and steals. Last season, he received the Deflection King Award from Marquette. He cracked the top 35 in steals for the entire NCAA. He also earned his third letter. Against Stanford, McNeal led the team in the overtime session scoring 90% of the points himself. That same game he totaled 30 points and eight rebounds. When the season ended, his averages were 14.9 in points and just under five in rebounds. McNeal will surely start and lead the team for the 2008-09 season. © 2010 MarquetteTickets.com Terms of Service |
