Jimmy Butler came to Marquette from Tyler Junior College in Texas. He played for Tomball high in Tomball Tx. He likes the Fresh Prince, Halle Berry, He Got Game, and his favorite NBA team is the Houston Rockets.

He is one of the three players to come from Texas this first year under coach Buzz Williams. He played Junior College ball prior to his transfer to Marquette.

As a junior college player, Jimmy Butler was named as an All-American honorable mention. He averaged nearly twenty points per game, with 7.7 rebounds and three assists.
